Description: This is a vintage wool coat dating to the 1950s. The coat is cut with a flared silhouette. It has a long shawl collar, raglan sleeves and long pleat down the back edged with black velvet and decorated with a black velvet bow at the top. The upper collar is also edged with black velvet and there is a slash pocket built into either side of the coat. The coat is lined with black satin and the lining is backed with wool and has leather suede shammy lining the upper back to protect against wind chill. The fabric is flecked, which gives the coat a slight sparkle. The coat has no closure - there is a loop on the right lapel, but no corresponding button on the left. You could either pose a button or simply remove the loop. The shoulders are slightly padded
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it is a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit taking the thickness of the wool into account:
Shoulders: 16 1/2" across from end of shoulder pad to end of shoulder pad (difficult to ascertain exact width due to raglan cut)
Sleeves: 22 1/2" from the shoulder pad
Sleeve Inseam: 18"
Bust: 38" around
Waist: 46" around
Hemline: 96" around
It is in very good condition except for a small wear area at the top of one of the pockets (see last close-up photo) and some wear to the shammy lining on the interior of the coat, which really shouldn't bother anyone. Otherwise, the coat is in very clean vintage condition with no pronounced wear.
This is a nice quality 50s period coat with attractive styling and detailing.....
