Vintage 60s Space Age Gold Lame Boot Leggings in Box Wild NOS

This is a fabulous pair of vintage "boot leggings" (jambieres in French). The leggings are made of stretchy metallic gold lame fabric with black felt bottoms. Note that the bottoms are felt cloth, so these have to be used in conjunction with footwear. They are unused, so in perfect "like-new" condition. Each measures 16" in height, so these would be under or to the knee height for most people. The fabric stretches horizontally only, not vertically, so you cannot get more height from them. The box indicates that they are a size Large. They measure 11" around the top, unstretched, and the sole of the foot measures 9" in length.

They come in their original box, but the box has sustained some water staining. There's a great graphic of a French policeman saying "to the knee, above the knee, or thigh high, in a choice of colors and materials, oh la la!". The box reads in English on one side and French on the other – it also says "Stretch Leggies by Jeunesse de France for that instant boot look".

The price tag on the outside of the box indicates that these were marked down from $10 to $5. The original bill is inside the box and is dated August 11, 1960. These are really a rather rare item – unusual to find new and a wonderful 60s Space Age look....
