This is a beautiful early 1930s black silk evening gown / formal dress. The dress has a V shaped draped neckline, long sleeves, defined waist and dropped skirt, constructed to flare out from below the hips. There is a sash belt with rhinestone buckle that covers the waistline.
Age: early 1930s
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking into consideration the style of the dress and that there are no side or back openings, the dress simply fits over the head:
Shoulders: 16 1/4” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 23 1/2” long
Sleeve Inseam: 18 1/2”
Bust: 42” around, should be somewhat loose
Waist: 32” around
Hips: 40” around
Overall length: 47"
It is in very good, clean condition with no wear, tear, holes, stains or odors. The belt is stitched to the dress on one side, but the stitching has come undone on the other - you have the option to either re-stitch this or not. The right side buckle is missing its centre rhinestone - could be replaced if this bothers you. This dress has been very well cared for and stored over the years.
