Description: This is a 50s era dress featuring six large white plastic buttons on the front of its skirt. The dress has a squared neckline and cap sleeves. The skirt is pleated at either side so as to form a front panel, where the buttons are applied. The waist cinches with a matching belt. The dress does up the back with a metal zipper.
Material: Cotton pique aka "marcella" - a weaving technique that results in a criss-cross patterning. I think that this is a cotton-silk blend as that was often used for pique weaving, and the fabric has a slight sheen to it.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium to large size. Please note the following measurements, taking the thickness of the fabric and the style of the garment into account:
Shoulders: 16" across, from the shoulder/sleeve seam to the other shoulder/sleeve seam
Bust: 40" around, taken under the arm openings
Waist: 30" around, uncinched by the belt
Hips: 38" around
Overall length: 43", measured flat
This dress is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or odor. The dress is usable as is, but would benefit from a professional dry cleaning as there may be some very light dust accumulation from storage, very minor.
This is a sophisticated 50s dress....understated and easy to wear, yet beautiful quality.....
