Insole stamp: None legible
Description: This is a wonderful pair of 40s era slingback shoes made with black faille uppers and leather soles. They have an open toe, and brass colored metal bead edged buckles on the toe box. I believe that they are most likely wartime period due to the cloth uppers - certain materials were scarce during the war, including leather, which was needed for pilot jackets.
Material: Faille Fabric and leather soles
The shoes are unmarked as to size, so please rely on the following measurements for fit. The insoles measure 9 1/4" from the tip of the toe to the very back of the insole but the measurement from the toe to the back of the slingback is 9 1/2". The soles measure 3 1/8" in width at the widest. I think that these would be about a size 7. I wear a size 7 1/2 or 8 depending on the style of the shoes and the heel of my foot hangs out a teeny bit.
The back of the insole has been repaired. I also had the shoemaker reattach the decorative shoe ornament, but he did not place it in quite the same orientation as the one that was still attached. Also some of the brass beads on the shoe ornament are hanging loose (towards the ends). Otherwise, the shoes are in good shape
This is a very nice pair of vintage 40s shoes - perfect period pieces......
