Makers Label: The Gilberts for Tally New York
Retailer label: Lillie Rubin. Lillie Rubin was a specialty shop that offered evening gowns and special occasion wear (courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild label resource)
Union label: ILGWU "red, white and blue" label used between the years 1974 and 1995
Description: This is a fully sequined two piece suit comprised of a jacket and long skirt. The jacket is made in a classic style with notched lapels and no closures. The skirt is made in a lower calf length with a slit at either side. Both pieces are fully lined, the jacket in a satin poly fabric and the skirt in a synthetic organza.
Color: Purple (mix of maroon and a violet blue sequin)
Fabric: Sequined fabric, probably a synthetic
Size 12 is indicated on the cardboard tag, but due to the waistline measurement of the skirt, I would say that this is more of a medium size - please note the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 16" across, shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Sleeves: 23 1/2" long
Sleeve inseam: 17"
Bust: 38" around, taken under the arms, with a normal opening at the front
Waist: 37" around, with a normal opening at the front
Length: 25", measured flat
Waist: 26"-27" around
This set is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors - there is the odd sequin missing, but nothing noticeable, and otherwise, it looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a striking Disco era suit - super glittery.....sure to be noticed!
