Description: This is a lovely dressing gown/lounging robe made in a rust brown color. The fabric is a lightweight wool, I believe flannel. The piece has padded shoulders, in typical 1940s style. It has a small rounded collar and does up the front with a metal zipper from the waist down to about 1/3 from the bottom. Above the waist, it does up with five matching fabric covered buttons. It has a square pocket affixed to the right side that is decorated with chain stitch embroidery in yellow with a design in the center made of green chenille. The robe is unlined. There are two loops for the belt, I do have the belt, I do apologize forgot to put it on for the photo.
Color: Brown, yellow and green
Material: Wool flannel
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a medium to large size, please note the following measurements for fit, taking into account how loosely you would wear it:
Shoulders: 17" across, shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Sleeves: 20" long
Sleeve inseam: 16"
Bust: 38"-40" around, taken at the underarm opening - 40" would be a tight fit
Waist: 31" around
Hips: 36"-38" around
Length: 55", measured flat
It is in very good condition with the exception of a tiny hole at the left side of the waist, just in back of the belt loop and another 2 or 3 towards the bottom of the robe (see last close-up photo). Two of the holes are about 1/8" in diameter while the other two are smaller - none are that noticeable. There is a tiny opening to the seam at the back under the waist line. Otherwise, this robe looks like it saw little use and was well stored over the years - despite the tiny holes, this is a great looking 40s dressing gown.
These 40s dressing gowns are hard to come by - this is a great looking example......
