An amazing ball gown made of the a beautiful green & gold metallic brocade fabric.
This is a fabulous piece that was acquired from the estate of the wife of a wealthy financier and recipient of the Order of Canada. Her husband's family was a very prominent Montreal family. Obviously, she had many occasions to wear formal ball gowns, and she bought much of her wardrobe in Paris from various couturiers. Although I haven't been able to find anything out about Josy May, this dress features quality fabric and striking form. The neckline is made in a wide V shape and the sleeves have a slight bell form that emanates in a slit and pointed shape at the end. The dress is full length with a wide pleat at the front that starts at the waist and widens to the bottom. The dress is lined in green silk and does up the back with a fine tooth painted metal zipper.
Age: 1960s / early 1970s
