This is a gorgeous royal blue satin cocktail dress, made in the late 1950s by R&K Originals. It is the most vivid brilliant blue color, in a crisp, heavy weight quality rayon satin. The short sleeve style features a wide band of self fabric trim at the rounded neckline and big pleats below the waist seam.
A magnificent large blue fabric flower anchors the front of the waist. The dress closes in the back with a metal Conmatic zipper.
The label says "R & K Originals, For the Girl Who Knows Clothes." R&K Dress Corporation was based on Broadway in NYC and sold fashionable, well made and yet moderately priced clothing for decades. This is one of the prettiest R&K cocktail dresses that we've had!
The dress is in good condition. There is a subtle stain under the right sleeve, but strangely there doesn't seem to be another one under the left, and it's a pale color change in the blue so not terribly noticeable. We don't find any holes or other flaws. We should mention that the fabric "leaves" which are on the big fabric flower are attached with bendable wire "vines," and you may possibly wish to sew them on, so they don't come "unwound" at some point in time.
It is about a size Small. The bust measures 36 inches, the waist is 27, the hips are open to 46 inches. The bodice length is 16 inches and the total dress length is 42 inches.
