This is a beautiful 1940's Victorian Revival style festoon choker necklace, that features a large foil backed faceted oval amethyst glass centerpiece. The purple glass stone is prong set in a fancy oval brass filigree medallion mount, with Art Nouveau three dimensional, ornate embellishments. On the bottom of the medallion is a row of chain fringe. The medallion is suspended from two double link metal chains on either side, creating a festoon appearance. There is a jump ring and spring ring clasp at the end of the chains.
The necklace is not signed. It is a very lovely 30's or 40's Victorian style piece.
It is in excellent condition. There's a bit of age patina to it, seen in the crevices. You can see there's a ring of twisted brass wire surrounding the center stone, that is held in place by frond shaped overlays, and it is a bit loose in the mount. It's not going anywhere because it can't come out of the prongs but it shifts around a little bit in its position. The purple stone is lovely, not chipped or cracked, and the clasp is tight, there are no other issues.
The choker chains are 17 inches around, the center pendant is 1.5 inches wide and 2 inches tall including the metal fringe.
