This is a large vintage dome shaped silver brooch, depicting a stylized leaping fish. Likely made in Peru, Ecuador or possibly Mexico, it's unsigned but has a South American 1970's design esthetic.
It is made from cutting and laying sheets of silver metal so that the fish shape is indented, and then blackened or oxidized to stand out against the shinier raised silver sections.
It is not stamped or marked anywhere and we believe it to be 900 silver.
It has a locking C clasp on the back, and there are some pools of silver solder indicating the pin stem and C clasp may have at one time been replaced. It polishes up nicely, but has oxidation and age patina still on it.
It is 2 inches in diameter, and 1/16 of an inch thick. It weighs 19.9 grams.
