B.H. Wragge 50's Charcoal Wool Plaid Circle Skirt S

It's nice to find a B.H. Wragge, and this skirt is a lovely example of the collectible label from the 1950s. It's a soft wool full-circle skirt, woven in charcoal black with hints of gray, muted orange, and dark wine. It has an inset waistband, a hand finished hem, and it closes on the side with a Crown metal zipper. Crown zippers were only in production from the mid 40s to the early 1950s. This skirt is a classic, original full swing skirt of the early 1950s.

In the 1950s, B.H. Wragge focused on creating separates that would appeal to younger wearers, and their styles were popular with college students. Later on, they would focus on evening wear and lady's suits. They started the business in 1920 and closed in 1971 (source: Vintage Fashion Guild label resource).

This fine skirt is in excellent overall condition, the zipper works fine, and we can not find any holes or stains. There are a couple of open stitches on one side seam that can easily be re-stitched.

About a size Small: the waist measures 26 inches, the hips are open to 56 inches. The hem sweep is 130 inches around. The length is 25.5 inches.
