Victorian Sterling Carnelian Brooch Scottish Hallmarks
On the reverse, there is a beautifully executed tube hinge and pin stem with early locking C clasp mechanism. The back is open to view the underside of the cabochon.
There are a number of Victorian Scotland silver marks, some are hard to make out, but there's an "R.A.", a lion, a thistle and a letter Z (?).
There's a little bit of a bend in the pin stem, a tiny dent on one of the front circle dots, nothing major as far as wear, and overall it is in excellent original condition, with lots of patina (not polished).
The brooch is 1 inch in diameter, and the stone stands half an inch high.
