This is a 1920s vintage peacock blue silk charmeuse beaded flapper dress that needs TLC. It has leaf shaped fronds intricately embroidered in silk floss. Scattered all over are clusters of iridescent blue to black glass seed beads in Florette clusters. The dropped waist is accented by a wide attached self belt with a fabric rosette on the left hip and a long beaded swinging tabard panel. The dress closes with 3 snaps on the left shoulder. The inside lining is matching blue silk chiffon. There are no labels.
This dress was previously repaired by our seamstress, with the top charmeuse layer hand stitched to the inside chiffon layer to stabilize prior tears found in the charmeuse. Sadly, the dress has other tears. There are large holes on the left and right side of the waist seam, and a 1 inch hole in the chiffon in the front center of the bodice (although the one on the chest is less noticeable than the two areas on the sides).
The dress has not been handled or tried on, but the fabric on the sides of the dress is deteriorating. We are calling it in POOR to FAIR condition, and selling it "AS IS."
This would be a great piece to restore, or for a designer to make a pattern from and copy. Or you could use the stable bead work and embroidery sections to create something new.
The bust is 40 inches, the waist is 40, the hips are 50, the length is 45 inches.
