St George & the Dragon Renaissance Revival Pendant, enamelled

This is a Victorian era Austro-Hungarian Renaissance Revival pendant depicting St George on horseback slaying the dragon. It dates from the mid 19th century but is based on Renaissance jewellery of the same theme. This is a solid silver 3-dimensional, sculptural pendant. Sadly there is significant enamel loss, although there is still remnants of the original flashing green, red, white, purple, gold and blue enamel. The baroque pearl pendant is still intact at the bottom.

There is an elaborate silver setting bearing an amethyst colour jewel, I am presuming a paste. This does not appear to be of the same silver, but is still an antique element with intriguing marks and wear. The total weight including chain is 26.67 grams. It measures 9.2 cms (3.6 inches) in length from the top of the stone pendant and the bottom of the pearl. St George measures 2.8 x 2.3 cm (1.2 x 1").

The chain, which is obviously a newer chain which has been attached, measures 23 cm drop (9") and is stamped 925. Usually an item like this is priced in the thousands, but due to the condition I have priced this much lower. If you find a good enameler you could hope to restore the piece.
