Georgian 'Black Dot' Brooch with Hair, Sentimental

This is a genuine Georgian 'black dot' paste; a technique of painting a black dot at the centre of each silver setting so once the paste is set within the closed back setting it creates further illusion of depth and diamond-like sparkle.

Overall the brooch measures 2 x 2.5 cm (3/4 x 1"). It has a 9ct gold back, but the stones are set in silver. Original C clasp is in place. The pin is slightly bent and could be a replacement, but it is secure and firm. A delightful piece.
