The story of the Van Briggle Pottery Company is legendary. The brilliant young Artus Van Briggle, a rising star at the prestigious Rookwood Pottery, leaves Cincinnati, with the hope that the climate of Colorado Springs would abate his failing health. With his young bride Anne Gregory by his side, and the financial support of Rookwood's founder Maria Longworth Storer, he forms the Van Briggle Pottery Company. Following Artus's death in 1904 at the age of 35, Anne Van Briggle becomes president of the company, and remained involved in its operation until her death in 1929.

The Van Briggle Pottery remains one of the oldest American companies still producing art pottery today.

This wonderful diminutive vase, designed by Emma Kinkead circa 1907 and produced between circa 1919, features a subtle embossed pattern of leaves and violets, and is covered in the "lost glaze" Mountain Craig Brown with green highlighting.

Condition is excellent, free from chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration.

Marked with Van Briggle's double-A logo, and "VAN BRIGGLE Colo Spgs".
