Consolidated Martele’ Katydid Ovoid Vase c 1926, Bi-color on Satin Milk Glass

Designed by Reuben Haley and introduced in 1926, Consolidated's Martele' line of art glass was inspired by the glorious works of Rene' Lalique featured at the 1925 Paris Exposition. Haley, who had previously been associated with Hocking and Fostoria, worked with his son Kenneth to produce the Martele' collection. An early catalog from Consolidated describes the line as combining "the skill of the artist, sculptor and glass artisan to bring out the hand wrought motifs obtained from nature's own laboratories...the sea, the sky and the land have each supplied an inspiration to the artists."

This gorgeous Consolidated Martele' Katydid Ovoid Vase features a gathering of charming grasshoppers or katydids perched upon tall, slender blades of grass, finished in soft aqua and brown over satin milk glass. Condition is mint, free from chipping, cracking or color loss. Unmarked, but guaranteed to be authentic Consolidated Martele' glass. H 7", W 8.5", D 4.5", rim 4.5" x 3", base 4.25" x 3.5".
