Fassold & Stauch, Bock Wallendorf "Woodsman" Figurine

Porcelain production in the municipality of Wallendorf, Thuringia was a booming enterprise in 18th century Germany, and many notable makers, among them Wallendorf, Limbach and Volkstedt, were well known for making quality wares that were accessible to the common classes. From 1913 to 1972 the Bock Wallendorf factory of Fasold & Stauch produced fine porcelain pieces in this centuries-old tradition.

This exquisitely detailed figure depicts a bearded Bavarian woodsman, pausing to enjoy a smoke from his pipe, his ax slung over his shoulder.

Condition is superb, free from, chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration.

Marked with the red underglaze Fasold & Stauch crown and wheel logo, and impressed #17413.

H 8.75", W 3.5", D 3.25", base 4.5".
