Sabino Glass was, and continues to be, made in France using the original designs of Marius Ernest Sabino. Sabino, born in Sicily in 1878, moved with his family to France at the age of four. Sabino originally trained to be a sculptor like his father, and that early training is recognizable in the exquisite figurines he produced for the molds of his glass designs. Originally Sabino glass was marked either "Sabino France" if intended for export, or "Sabino Paris", to be sold within France. Production ceased temporarily at the start of the war in 1939, and when production resumed the management of the company passed to Sabino's nephew Mssr. Gripoix-Sabino. All post-war production took place in France for export to the USA. In 1978 the entire Sabino operation, including molds, designs and formulas was sold to the company's American agent, the Sabino Crystal Company. This company has continued to produce Sabino Art Glass in France using the same molds and processes, exporting all their output to the USA, with world-wide distribution from their headquarters in Houston, Texas.
