Roseville Pottery ThornApple Bowl #307-6, Brown, Ca. 1939

Roseville's Thorn Apple, a middle period line introduced in 1937, was one of the Pottery's more unusual choices for a decorating motif. The Thorn Apple, also known as Jimson Weed or Devils Trumpet is a bushy herb sometimes used as a hallucinogen. No matter, this remains an extremely popular pattern in spite of (or because of!) its quirky design, with most pieces having strong Art Deco shapes under smooth matte glazes of blue, pink or brown.

This striking Thorn Apple bowl #307-6 features high-set Deco handles and boasts clear, crisp mold work and finishing.

Condition is very good, with a reversible repair to a minuscule nick to the interior rim edge that is hard to notice, otherwise free from chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration. Priced to reflect this very minor condition issue.

Marked with very faintly impressed "Roseville 307-6".

H 3", W 9.25", rim 6.5", base 3"
