Roseville Pottery Florentine I Wall Pocket #1238-8, Ca. 1924

The original incarnation of Florentine, or Florentine I, introduced in 1924, was the most popular Roseville line of its day, just as the Donatello line had been nearly a decade earlier, and remained popular for many years. The light or ""blonde"" version, known as Florentine II, was introduced in the late 1930's, most likely as commercial ware. Florentine I features an Italianate motif, with panels mimicking rough-hewn stone separated by draping clusters of fruit and berries, and a modified egg-and-dart rim treatment, all on a tan matte ground accented with green.

This elegant Roseville Florentine I wall pocket #1238-8 features an arched scroll handle and is in excellent condition, free from chipping, cracking or restoration, with faint crazing present.

Marked with blue "Rv" inkstamp.
