Roseville Pottery Moderne Bud Vase #791-8, Turquoise, Ca. 1936

Roseville's stylish Moderne, a middle period line introduced in 1936, features classically inspired shapes and soft matte or semi-gloss glazes of "Azurine" blue, "Patina" pink, or, as in this example, "Faience" turquoise, enhanced with delicate abstract ornamentation.

Today, Moderne is nearly as sought after as Roseville's Futura line by lovers of Art Deco, and its popularity is on the rise.

This glorious Moderne bud vase, with embossed Deco motif on a fabulous asymmetrical form, is covered in a rich matte turquoise with taupe highlighting, and is in very good condition, with a reversible repair to glaze flaking at the base edge and production clay bump and glaze spot, both on the same side of the body, otherwise free from chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration.

Marked with die-impressed "Roseville 791-8".

H 8.5", rim 2.5", base 3.5"
