Cowan Pottery Candlesticks #642, Ca. 1924, Pair, April Green

Originally formed as the Cleveland Pottery and Tile Company by designer, potter and teacher R. Guy Cowan, the Cowan Pottery Studio, which operated from 1913 to 1931, produced outstanding and technically extraordinary pieces, which brought international recognition to American Art Pottery. The expertise of the talented artists and chemists in residence allowed them to create distinctly modern forms and glazes during its short-lived existence that have never been reproduced.

These elegant and generously proportioned candlesticks, shape #642 circa 1924, are glazed in Cowan's lovely April Green gloss glaze, and features a decidedly Art Deco stepped and scalloped base.

These dramatic Cowan Candlesticks are in excellent condition, with very faint crazing and minor no-show production chipping on the underside of the base, otherwise free from chipping, cracking or restoration.

Marked at the base with die impressed Cowan logo.

Each H 3", W 4", L 5.75".
