Introduced in 1926, the original production of the Carnelian line from Roseville's middle period featured various shapes covered in a tone-on-tone drip glaze of either green or tan, with other color combinations to follow. The Carnelian II (or "Glazes"), circa 1928 took these same shapes, often already glazed in Carnelian drip colors, and re-glazed them with thick, textured matte or semi-gloss multi-colored glazes.
This Roseville Carnelian II vase #331-7 features a fabulous, heavily textured semi-gloss glaze in tones of rose, purple and slate - a re-glaze from the original Carnelian I production based on the interiors green glaze color and the discernable drip pattern below the rim.
Condition is excellent, free from chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration, with insignificant production glaze misses at the base.
Marked with handwritten shape # "331" and finishers marks in colored pencil, and guaranteed to be original, vintage Roseville Pottery.
H 7.25", W 7.5", rim 3.25", base 3.75".
