Cowan Pottery Large Seahorse Fan Vase, Fawn Glaze, Ca. 1926

Originally formed as the Cleveland Pottery and Tile Company by designer, potter and teacher R. Guy Cowan, the Cowan Pottery Studio, which operated from 1913 to 1931, produced outstanding and technically extraordinary pieces, which brought international recognition to American Art Pottery. The expertise of the talented artists and chemists in residence allowed them to create distinctly modern forms and glazes during its short-lived existence that have never been reproduced.

This spectacular footed, channeled fan vase, shape #715-B circa 1926, is glazed in Cowan's "Fawn" glaze, a rutile crystalline finish of rich mocha brown, and features a delightful pair of Seahorses supporting the vessel.

This dramatic Cowan Fan Vase is in mint condition, free from chipping, cracking, crazing or restoration.

Marked at the base with the die-impressed Cowan logo (and original $2 price in pink ink!).

H 8", W 8", D 2", base 4.5" x 3".
