Early 19th c. Sad Lady Miniature Portrait on Ivory in Rosewood Frame

The quality of this miniature Portrait is apparent even from the photos. Painted on ivory, no doubt by an accomplished miniaturist. She may not be the most beautiful subject, but she is exquisitely painted ... from her facial features to the pleats of her black mourning outfit. She is framed in a lovely, original dovetailed rosewood frame with two mattes. The framing is wonderful. Everything is in great condition (there is a bit of staining on the left side of the painting ... near the edge ... which doesn't really affect anything). I don't know if this is American or English in origin. The sight size of the painting is 3" X 2 1/10". The frame is 7" X 5 1/4". The wood back has been taped down.
