c. 1890 Ornate German Brass Library Scissors in Sheath

This gorgeous pair of Art Nouveau era scissors in their original sheath are a joy to behold! Rich repousse and carved Gothic revival designs adorn this piece ... which was most likely were made in Germany. The handle and case are brass and the blades are stainless steel (with a little pitting on the blades), and they still cut brilliantly. The scissors measure 6 1/4" high (and 7 1/4" in sheath), and 2 1/4" wide on top. I am told these are called Library Scissors. I always thought they were used for sewing purposes. They are unmarked.
