This is one of the most magnificent miniatures you will ever see. The detail is just breathtaking. This large format ivory portrait was painted, it seems, with a single hair brush, to get all the delicious details. She is identified (on the kid leather backing) as Grafin Bose, n. Fr. Aug. Tischbein, which probably means that this miniature is after the artist Tischbein, who probably rendered this in a large oil painting which could be hanging in a museum or private collection. The miniature retains its original matte & glass and white leather backing, and is framed in a later gilded wood frame. Miniature size is 4" X 3 1/4". Additional photos available upon request.
