A beautiful miniature, complete with detailing equal to it's larger counterparts, it originates from Paris and dates from about 1920.
This handsome piece is made of French satinwood. Careful attention has been paid to the grain of the wood on the body of the piece. The side wooden panels have been placed in a chevron pattern with a fine inlay frame. Around this frame the satinwood has been placed with the grain in the opposite direction, creating and interesting pattern. The elegant drawer fronts repeat the pattern of the sides with added floral inlay detailing. The drawers have a beautiful curve to the front. The frame of the drawers has lovely dovetailing.
There are two decorative metal handles on each drawer, metal ormolu to the front legs, top of body and bottom center. The inside of the drawers are lined with fine green felt with wide silk braid at the top. The marble top has lovely hues of ivory, grey and pale pink and is cut with a bull nose edging. It measures: 9 1/2" tall, 10 1/2" wide, and 6" deep. The marble top measures: 12" at the back tapering to 11" at the front. The miniature is in good and solid condition, with no cracks to the marble.
It is an elegant miniature example of a Louis XV style French commode.
