An exquisite pair of porcelain figures, they are finely crafted in delicate detail. The beautifully painted faces and intricate detail of the hands are exceptional. They date from 1870-1890.
The boy holds a small nosegay of flowers and is sitting on two large baskets which have hand painted bouquets of flowers in the bottom panel. His facial features are delicate and his little fingers finely formed. His jacket in embellished with carefully hand painted flowers, as dis his pantaloons. His shirt has raised white dots to mimic dotted swiss. There is a crosshatch mark on the bottom of this piece, we believe this mark to be German.
The girl is equally executed with painstaking detail. She is also holding a bouquet of flowers. She has a thoughtful expression on her face as if lost in a daydream. Her flower baskets that serve as her seat have hand painted flowers in the bottom panels. Her pink shirt and green skirt are hand painted with beautiful flowers. There is a crosshatch mark on the bottom of this piece, we believe this mark to be German.
The pair is in a fine state, with no visible chips, cracks, or missing pieces. Each figure measures 6 1/2" tall and 5" wide at the base.
