This exquisite four-piece vanity dresser is in an unusual bright spring apple green glaze. It dates from the Victorian period, 1890-1900.The hand-painted flowers which adorn each piece have been painstakingly executed. The colors are brilliant and depict pansies and forget-me-nots with clear detail. The flask (with porcelain stopper) is adorned the same on the front and back. Hand-painted gilt borders separate each part of the design. The top of the stopper is embellished with a single bouquet which seems to have been "picked" from the "garden" on the front of the flask. It measures 6 1/8" tall, 3 3/4" wide (at widest point) and the body 1" wide; the stopper 1 3/4" in diameter.
The round covered ring pot with a solid domed top is ornamented with a large bouquet of hand-painted flowers. Fancy hand-painted gilt borders separate the design sections.There is a single flower on the inside of the lid and the bottom of the pot. It measures 1 3/4" tall, and 3" in diameter.
The small cup is equally ornamented with a hand-painted central pansy with forget-me-nots surrounding it. Fancy hand-painted gilt borders separate the design sections. It measures 1 3/4" high and 2 1/8" in diameter.
The covered creme pot is sumptuous, the lid has a central knob which is painted in the form of a rose. Bouquets surround the knob and fancy hand-painted gilt borders separate the design sections. It measures 2 1/2" tall and 2 1/4" in diameter.
Each piece is marked in the same manner on the bottom. Each piece is in excellent condition, with no noticeable chips or cracks.
The brilliant colors and delicate detailing make this one of the most beautiful sets that we have seen.
