Victorian Carved Coral on 9K Gold Drop Earrings

They measure 1 and 3/8" (3.5cms) long and the roundel at the top is 9mms in diameter. Together they weigh 4.9 grams.

The carved roundel at the top is a little flower with leaves either side. This motif is echoed around the gold setting. From a tiny ring at the base hang the coral drops with gold caps. The carving is of an all over pattern of leaves with fine veining. I would describe the coral as a soft and very flattering salmon colour.

The screw backs are fully functional and bear faint hallmarks which I am unable to decipher. One of the screws came adrift at one time and there is a tiny amount of solder at the top. It is towards the back and would not be visible in wear.

There are a few minute white and dark flecks in the coral. This is normal and shows that the coral is natural and genuine. Under a loupe the backs show signs of age.

These beautiful and hard to come by antique earrings will arrive in a gift box.
