Vintage Italian Venetian Glass 'Wedding Cake' Bead Necklace

The necklace is 19" (48cms) long and is strung on black silk cord with knots between the beads. It closes with an attractive gold plated clasp which hooks over and pushes in. I feel that this may be a replacement for an older clasp.

The wedding cake beads are so called because of their resemblance to the icing on wedding cakes. The beads on this one have a shiny black base with raised decoration of pink roses and blue flowers with lemon centres. They are further embellished with zig zags of glittering bronze coloured goldstone. Between them are bronze beads with tiny black spacers on either side.

The largest wedding cake bead at the centre measures 17mms wide and the bronze beads are mostly 10mms wide. As the wedding cake beads are hand made they vary slightly in size and shape.

This dramatic and very unusual necklace is in excellent condition. For you or as a gift it will arrive in a new gift box.
