This beautiful late Georgian pin is mounted on 9 carat gold (tested) with natural seed pearls and garnets. It was made circa 1830 and has survived in fine condition.
This type of pin would have been worn either as a sentimental token or in memory of a loved one. It is large enough to have been worn at the neck.
The pin measures 1¼" (3.2cms) by 14/16" (2.1cms) and weighs 7 grams.
Within a crystal glassed compartment sits a small piece of plaited hair. It is bordered with tiny lustrous seed pearls. The edge is finished with deep, pinkish red garnets with gold knobs between them.
On the gold back is a solid old style c clip and a little loop which holds a safety chain. There are no hallmarks.
This wonderful example of, faceted. Georgian sentimental jewellery is in great condition. One garnet does appear a shade lighter than the others but this is not at all noticeable unless you look closely.
It comes to you tissue wrapped in a gift box.
