French Art Nouveau Circa 1900 Silver Scent/Perfume Bottle

This wonderful, French, Art Nouveau scent or perfume bottle is made of hallmarked 800 purity silver.

The bottle is 2¼" (5/7cms) tall by 5/8" (1.6cms) in diameter across the base. It weighs 18.9 grams.

The bottle is decorated with a superb raised design of a bell like flower and leaves. The stems swirl around the curved edges in the exuberant, sinuous style of Art Nouveau. Only right at the back is there a blank space, possibly for an engraving . There are two boars' heads hallmark and a further mark which I cannot identify.

The design continues on to the lid which lifts up easily on its strong hinge. The inside of the lid is gilded. The original glass stopper is present with no cracks or chips. When you take it out you can smell traces of the original scent.

This delightful and very desirable piece is in excellent antique condition with the natural patina of age. It will arrive in a gift box.
