Large French Pewter Tankard with Cover, Fleur-de-Lis

This tankard came from the Orleans area, where many of the French upper classes used to have summer houses. The tankard is big, it is probably means to hold a liter of wine and has the Fleur-de-Lis on both the top, bottom and the front. It is a very handsome piece. There are a few scratches on the side, but otherwise it is without dents or dings. It measures 12" tall and has a diameter of 8".
