French Porcelain Monogrammed Tureen Painted by Ernie Paris

This gorgeous tureen comes from a prominent porcelain painter who had his shop at 20 Rue Paradis Poissonniere, Paris. This street had many prominent shops in the first quarter of the 20th century, namely the Faienceries de Choisy le Roy on number 18 and Baccarat on number 30. The porcelain painter was usually hired to paint the monogram or crest of a prominent family on the dinnerware and this tureen is from one of these sets. There are a compote and a set of 10 dinner plates listed separately. The tureen is very elegant and have a pale green border and the large gold monogram. The tureen is definitely painted at Ernie as it came with the marked plates and has the same monogram and coloring. The tureen is marked on the bottom with two impressed marks and a red number. Also the tureen has an extra logo on the base of an R and an S. The handle has a handsome branch with leaves as a handle. The porcelain tureen is in very good condition with only some gilt loss at the rim as testament to its age.

Diameter is 10" handle to handle, height is 7".
