Modernist Oil on Board Painting After Edouard Pignon (1905-1993)

This painting is a true delight for the eye. It catches you in a way that is very pleasing. The flow and movement of the lines are like a symphony of color and motion. Pignon is considered to be a member of the New Paris School- Nouvelle Ecole de Paris but his style is varied and difficult to classify. He developed a series of recurring themes with his broad use of color and varied compositions. This painting is done after him, though not by the artist. This painting measures 24" x 34 ½ and is painted on board with wood supports on the rear. It is untitled and is signed on the lower right. The overall condition is very good. There are some small areas of paint loss on the outside edges and the board bows to the front very slightly. This work has recently been reframed.
