18" American Artist Mary Edy 1917 Sandman Felt Character Doll

This unique 18" felt character doll was made & designed by Artist Mary Edy. The doll is all original with black human hair wig, gold & green & saddle color felt tunic with deep cut points at the collar and hem, matching forest green felt turned back cap, and a bag of real sand on a shoulder strap . shoulder strap is marked "Sandman". The doll has skinny stitched arms & mitt type hands with stitched fingers and separate thumb. Legs are slender and made of saddle brown felt with welted seams from center & back. They end in boot like feet. His dress is reminiscent of one of Robin Hood's Merry Men.He has a large , pointed up turned nose, brown stitched eyes & mouth. He has a woven cloth label attached to his left foot which reads " Mary Edy // Pat Feb 13th 1917. He is all original and in good condition. He is a scarce and interesting American Art doll.
