The SH Ivy Doll or Mold #1448 by Simon Halbig is one of the most elusive and sought after German character dolls. An example is shown in a photograph and described on page 121 of Maree Tarnowska's Rare Character Dolls book. Jan Foulke lists this doll in two sizes in her Jan Foulke's Guide to Dolls, page 175, the 13-14 inch valued at $18,000 and the 17-18 inch size at $24,000. This mold number is seen so seldom that we sometimes forget just how beautiful the doll is. I am offering my 9-1/2 inch size in her original Scottish kilt outfit, matching wool socks and leather shoes, with closed mouth, amber glass sleep eyes, on her original fully jointed composition body for a very competitive price, considering the rarity, originality and quality of this lovely desirable cabinet size doll. She is clearly marked "1448 / Simon Halbig / 0" on the back of her bisque head with no wig pulls and no rubs or blemishes. She has no damage and no repair. She lost nothing in the modeling and possesses all of the quality of the larger sizes. She is affordable and will fit nicely in the collections with those who desire the smaller sizes of the German character dolls. She is one to seriously consider as you will probably not see another example of this doll for sale for a long time.
