German Rudolstadt Seated Piano Baby Playing with Jack-in-Box
Love those piano babies! I never thought I would see one that comes so close to the quality of the piano babies by Gebruder Heubach but 8-1/2 inch seated one is in the running. He would actually be approximately 17 inches tall if he were standing. This one is a Rudolstadt made in Germany, as marked with the green RW crown mark on the bottom along with the name and Germany. This child is intrigued with a jack-in-the-box and his intaglio eyes are wide open with excitement. The jack-in-the-box has equal quality in the modeling and painting. I love the hand-painted flowers and gold beading scattered around on the gown. Notice the well-modeled feet with pink ribbed socks. The pink cap also has gold beading. The deeply modeled hair is an example of the quality of the Rudolstadt pieces.
