This 27 inch 1860-70's flat top china head doll has a small slightly smiling mouth, long curving one stroke brows and a white highlight on the side of each iris. These are characteristics of china dolls made by the Kestner firm. She has an antique cloth body, although the arms and lower legs appear to be added but they are antique. The lower arms and legs are made of what looks like plaster that has paint chips and crazing, and molded and painted black ankle boots with green painted garters. The legs are chunky and the hands are cupped and have the same shape as some of the early composition Kestner bodies. She is dressed in vintage replacement clothes. The china head is in excellent condition with only a few paint rubs on the back of the head.
