Santa Clara Pueblo Polished Blackware Bowl by Clara Suazo

By this renown Santa Clare potter, both beautifully elegant and simple this miniature polished blackware bowl has a subtle shoulder moving into a pentagon shaped lip.

Clara Suazo also signs her pots as Clara Swazo or Clara Chavarria. She has been actively potting since about 1935. She is the daughter of Geronimo Chavarria an important family of the centuries old Santa Clara traditional potting and relation to the esteemed Tafoya family. She is also the wife of Florencio Suazo another family of a long line of traditional Santa Clara potters.

Purchased in the Grand Canyon 1977 on the way to Arcosanti.
