1873 Browns Self Interpreting Bible
This wonderful bible also contains an illuminated Marriage Certificate filled out with the marriage of Thomas Griffin Smith to Helene Estelle Tralles, Carbondale, Pennsylvania, December 10, 1885, a register of marriages with their marriage and room for many more, a register of births with a list of their three children and room for many more, a register of deaths with no entrys, and a blank register for memorandas. There is a beautiful illuminated Lord's Prayer; and the Ten Commandments, along with a photographic album with twelve openings for photo's.
The cover of the bible is well worn as the photo's show, and the front cover has come loose. The first six pages, of which four are blank, has a little paper loss. The rest of the over 1500 pages of the bible are present and in good Antique (125 years) condition with age appropriate light foxing and coloring to the pages, The ornate metal closure clasps are present, but have partly separated from the cover of the Bible. Still a very wonderful readable bible. The Bible measures 13" X 10 1/4" X 4 1/2", and weighs almost 17 lbs.
