Signed Avon 1996 “Angel Pin” ~ Smithsonian Christmas Bell Angel Trembler Brooch NM

Sandra Sturdivant has done so much research on Avon jewelry and she shares that with us in her book, "Identifying AVON JEWELRY". She discusses 3 stamps ~ "Angel Pin", "Toy Horse Pin" and "Toy Train Pin" ~ all from 1996. These are the replicas based on actual stamp designs in the Philatelic Collection of the Smithsonian. These beauties are among the 16 million U.S. and foreign stamps in the National Postal Museum, with these being festive Christmas stamps. The first US postage stamp designed for use on Christmas cards was issued on November 1, 1962. It was so popular that the Postal Service began the tradition of offering special holiday stamps every year.

This is an AVON COLLECTIBLE ~ the "Angel Pin" ~ is a 1996 Reproduction of the Smithsonian Institution representing the 1975 postage stamp issue by the U. S. Post Office. It comes on a card that was the "complete" stamp with the brooch being able to be removed allowing it to be worn. It also comes with a descriptive card regarding this piece.

This is a beautiful gold-tone bell brooch featuring green inlaid holly leaves with faceted red rhinestone berry accents that sparkle in the light. Swinging from this bell is an angel, hanging onto a rope. He has a red inlaid ribbon "flying" as he swings through the air. Yes, the angel actually swings. On the back of the brooch both the "Smithsonian" and "Avon' are signed. It is the "old" new, new in box in almost mint condition, one little, slight bend in card which was done when I tried to get the brooch/pin off for pictures, and it has never been worn.
