This small pillow dates from the early part of the Twentieth Century. The front is made of a beautiful satin finished silk, in a gentle shade of ivory/cream. The backing fabric is an extremely fine silk, in a very subtle shade of shell pink. There is a perfectly matched ivory/cream fringe around the pillow's edge.
Measuring 6" square (8" square, including the fringe). The cushion pad has been sewn in and there is no opening. Decorated with hand painted pink roses and green leaves, the whole effect is enhanced with a scattering of tiny clear diamantes, which catch the light beautifully and look like dew amongst the rose petals.
There are 3 of these little pillows and they are offered for sale separately. They were purchased in Scotland from the estate of a passionate doll collector, together with one large matching octagonal shaped pillow and 2 other small pillows, identical to these apart from the addition of a ribbon rose sewn to their corners. They were all used by the owner as part of the display of her extensive doll collection.
They are all truly lovely, very delicate, feminine and unusual. In wonderful condition when you consider that they are around one hundred years old!! A fine addition to a textile collection or perfect for use and display around the home.
