It is lovely to find a matching cup saucer and plate from this time and quite unusual.
This beautiful trio are fine examples of hand painted china that has been decorated in the Imari Floral style, popular in Regency times and still popular today. The traditional colours of under glazed cobalt blue and iron red have been used but these have been enhanced with the additional use of a lovely bright green. Finally, the design has been enlivened with delicate gilded detailing.
The plate measures 7 1/2" in diameter, the saucer 5 1/2" and the cup stands 2 1/2" tall x 3 1/2" in diameter.
The London shaped handle of the cup fixes its date to between 1815 and 1825. The pieces are all unmarked, but the shape of the cup handle, the foot shape and the rims, combined with the overall quality, indicate that these pieces are from a good factory, most probably Coalport.
In wonderful condition for their age, with no chips, cracks or issues of note. Please do however carefully look at the photographs, to note the odd tiny defect or blemish both commensurate with the age of the china and the period in history when it was actually being made.
This is a truly beautiful trio and wonderfully decorative. This trio would enhance any china cupboard, home decor or collection.
