This chic late1950s set was made by Renoir of California. They marked their enameled pieces Matisse. The "stones" in this set are actually enamel on copper cabochons the company named scarabs as a mid-century modern interpretation of Egyptian revival style. All three pieces are marked "Matisse". The bracelet measures 1 5/8" at the widest point; earrings are 1 1/4" wide. Bracelet fits an average sized wrist snugly -- if you normally wear a 7" or smaller bracelet, this one should fit your wrist. There is some wear to the finish on the inside of the bracelet and minor wear scratches on the outside. The colorful enamel is in excellent condition. This piece appears in “Warman’s Costume Jewelry” by Pamela Y. Wiggins (Krause, 2014) on p. 49.
