This Renaissance style cross was crafted by Joseff of Hollywood, most likely in the 1950s based on the way it is marked and the patina that comes with age. It features large emerald cut amber or imperial topaz rhinestones in Russian gold-plated metal. This is the same plating Eugene Joseff developed for use under Hollywood lighting in the 1930s. Marked "Joseff" on the back of the cross. Cross measures just over 3" tall including the decorative bail. The neck chain is about 26" long. Condition is excellent for this type of vintage piece as shown in the photos with only minor wear to the gold-tone finish. This piece was photographed for “Warman’s Costume Jewelry” by Pamela Y. Wiggins (Krause, 2014) and appears on p. 151.
